Rent a room scheme
The Rent a Room Scheme is a UK Government initiative that allows live in landlords to have a lodger* in a furnished room in their home and receive up to £4,250 a year tax free (or £2,150 if letting jointly).
The Rent a Room Scheme was introduced in an attempt to get people to rent out spare rooms in their homes.
For more information on this scheme visit the Government Website.
* A lodger is someone who pays rent to live in your home and who often shares the family rooms in the house.
